The High Commission of Canada is pleased to present "Cine Canada 2008: Celebrating Canada's Film Industry" to be held at MovieTowne Entertainment Complex from Wednesday 12th - Tuesday 18th March 2008.

Seven films covering genres of drama, comedy, crime and romance will be showcased. In addition, there will be showings of short films and documentaries geared towards children and teenagers on a variety of topics such as racism, identity, diversity, belonging, traditions and ceremonies, the power of music, tolerance and the desire to achieve.

One of the noteworthy documentaries, "The Journey of Lesra Martin" chronicles the inspiring true life story of the young man portrayed in the movie "The Hurricane" who befriended Ruben "Hurricane" Carter, and who worked with a group of Canadians to secure his release from prison.

The other noteworthy item is a series of 7 animated shorts entitles "Seven to See". This series allows viewers to discover some of the mysteries of animated film through seven shorts that make use of seven different techniques.
